These lenses have a very balanced optical design, neither too much one thing or the other. On one hand bursting with vintage character, natural feeling roll off, and dramatic flares yet at the same time they are sharp, multicoated with good contrast and easy to control. Forgiving on skin yet resolving very well on a chart or high detail shots. 

Zero Optik have done a stellar job of rehousing these lenses; they are tiny and lightweight. The close focus is totally ridiculous, making diopters unnecessary for many shots. The 40mm has a close focus of 11 inches.
