Here we have the only set of rehoused Lomo spherical standard speeds in the U.K. And what a comprehensive set it is – 12 lenses from 18-300mm.

These soviet lenses are often overlooked because their original housing is fairly rudimentary, and as they had mostly been disregarded they usually hadn’t been well maintained meaning that the charachteristics were often a bit all over the place. However, when we shot on a good example of a lens we could tell there was something really special about them so we started to collect a set.

We made it our mission to use only the best optics manufactured from 1984 onwards – we went through many many examples and cherry picked a set to be rehoused by GL Optics. 

The characteristics of these lenses are similar to what you find in many of the fantastic soviet lenses from this era, they are creamy with lower contrast, they are soft and very flattering but have good micro contrast which stops them feeling mushy. They also flare nicely, the veiling flare is pronounced yet now that these lenses are clip on mattebox friendly this can be easily controlled.
